How the exam asks it

About B licence: three limits at once: which statement is correct?

  1. The minimum age for category B is 18. 2toDrive is supervised driving from age 17, not independent authorisation.
  2. The mass, passenger and trailer limits of a B licence belong to the rules on licences with a restrictive code (e.g. for medical aids).
  3. With a B licence you may drive a vehicle for any number of passengers, as long as the mass stays under 3,500 kg.
  4. With a B licence you may tow any trailer, as long as the trailer itself is not overloaded.

About B licence: three limits at once: which statement is WRONG?

  1. Category B applies to vehicles for at most 8 passengers, excluding the driver, in addition to the mass limit.
  2. Up to 750 kg is always allowed; heavier is only allowed if the COMBINATION's mass stays at or under 3,500 kg.
  3. The 3,500/8/750 figures belong to the definition of category B itself.
  4. From age 17 you may already drive independently with a B licence, just like with 2toDrive supervision.

A 17-year-old in Nijmegen has passed his B licence and drives with 2toDrive. Tonight his coach cannot come along. He may then drive to his part-time job without the coach.

  1. True
  2. False
Show the answer

Correct answer: False

False — you think a 17-year-old with 2toDrive may already drive alone. Driving independently with a B licence is allowed only from 18; until then he drives only with his coach beside him. (Reglement rijbewijzen art. 5, 15, 21 | VekaBest p.21-22 (Hoofdstuk 2 §2.1))

Why learners get this wrong: From age 17 you may already drive independently with a B licence, just like with 2toDrive supervision.
