About Traffic-jam behaviour and breakdowns: clearing space and getting yourself to safety: which statement is WRONG?
The book only requires that you make room for emergency services when there is no hard shoulder; a fixed left/right formation is not part of this teaching material.
In a breakdown you do get out: on the right, wearing a safety vest, waiting behind the crash barrier. 'Stay in the car' applies to stationary traffic-jam traffic, not to a breakdown on or next to the hard shoulder.
Once you are in a traffic jam, you keep the hazard lights on for as long as you are stationary.
You report your location using the hectometre marker, the small sign with distance and road number along the hard shoulder.
Explanation
trap: signal without an end. VekaBest p.167 - the hazard lights go on when you come to a stop in the jam and go OFF again once the vehicles behind have slowed or noticed — not for the whole jam
