Sign C22c: Zero-emission zone; closed to vehicles that are not zero-emission
Legal meaning
Zero-emission zone.
Shape and colour
Rectangular white sign with a red-rimmed circle and the words nul-emissiezone: emission-free vehicles of the named categories only.
Where the sign stands
On every access road of the zone, right after the junction where the zone starts, on the right; a plate names the categories.
What the exam asks about this sign
The exam asks how it differs from the low-emission zone: in a zero-emission zone only emission-free vehicles, such as electric or hydrogen vehicles, of the named categories (usually vans and lorries) may enter. An ordinary petrol car often may, because the zone targets logistics — read the plate. Trap: 'zero emission' does not mean every combustion vehicle is banned.
