Sign B3: Priority intersection: at the next crossing
Legal meaning
Priority junction.
Shape and colour
Triangle pointing up with a red rim and a black cross of roads: you have priority at the next junction.
Where the sign stands
Just before the junction it covers, on the right; the side roads then carry B6 or B7 with shark's teeth.
What the exam asks about this sign
The exam asks who has priority at this junction: you, because you are on the road with B3; traffic from the side roads has shark's teeth or B6. Do not confuse it with the priority road: B3 covers only the next junction, after that the normal rule returns. Typical trap: at an equal junction further on the candidate again picks 'I have priority'.
Often confused with
- Priority road: you have priority over crossing traffic.
B1— The yellow diamond covers the whole road, B3 one junction. - Priority intersection where a side road joins from the left
B4— The same sign with a thick line to the left: side road only on the left. - Give way to drivers on the crossing road
B6— The opposite: on the side road you must give way.
