Series: L -- Information

Legal meaning

Acceleration lane becomes a through lane (information sign from the CROW sign register, not an RVV annex 1 sign).

Source: CROW sign register (not an RVV sign) · checked 2026-10-23

Shape and colour

Blue rectangular sign with white lines where the merge lane continues as a lane: merge lane becomes a lane.

Where the sign stands

Above or beside the road at the end of the acceleration lane.

What the exam asks about this sign

The question is how it differs from an ordinary merge lane: this lane does not end but becomes a full lane, so you need not merge and traffic on the main carriageway need not make room. Trap: candidates look for a gap to merge and brake needlessly.

No practice question uses this sign; the sections below explain it.
